Tom Harndall, a photography student at the University of Manchester, traveled to Gaza to record the voices of the oppressed after attending an anti-war demonstration in London; but he was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers. The path he began today inspires millions of young truth-seekers around the world.
According to Radio Salamat Public Relations, Tom Harndall, a young student at Manchester Metropolitan University in England, was one of thousands of protesters who shouted slogans against the war in Iraq in the streets of London. After attending these popular movements, he decided to leave his warm and comfortable room in London and travel to Gaza to witness the suffering of innocent people firsthand.
In a letter that Tom wrote to his mother from Gaza, it is stated: “Everything is falling silent. The only thing I can hear here is the cry of innocent people. I will hold all these tears in my heart.”
Tom Harendahl was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers while in Gaza. But his death was not the end of the path he had begun; rather, it initiated a wave of awareness and awakening among young people around the world who, inspired by him, are now heading to Gaza to make the voices of the oppressed heard by the world.
Salamat Radio’s “Olive Scent” podcast, produced by Mohammad Yousefi, is dedicated to the life and martyrdom of Tom Harendahl; a story of courage, truth-seeking, and resistance to oppression.
